Leaves unfolding, flowers blossoming, clothing getting lighter – spring is upon us! Of course, as a homeowner, you know what that means: It is roofing service and maintenance time!
Yes, now is the time (because the weather is so good, you have no more excuses) to give your roof some tender love and care. Clean the gutters, inspect the eaves and gables, check the underside, etc. Perhaps you could even get your power-washer out and clean that roof? The best thing about having a snow-free roof and a blue sky above, is that it allows you to have some roofing service done.
Now, the roof can be inspected freely (snow and ice is gone), or the old worn roof can come off (if it needs to), without water leaking in during repair or replacement. In fact, if you were serious about it, you would have hired your favorite roofing company months ago, just to make sure they were available to start the work when the weather improved.
If you are re-roofing an entire building, then you should know that a project like that will take some time. Don’t wait until may before calling for roofing quotes – you might not get them before the month is over. Then, if you do hire someone, you might have to wait for them to finish business for other clients – in the worst case, months could pass. Perhaps the works does get started by august – but who says it all runs smoothly and the roofer is done by september? He might be trying to finish more than one job at the same time (some do work like that), with his schedule getting messed up completely as a result. Or maybe there is heavy rainfall throughout that august.
The worst case scenario is that your roof is opened up and covered with tarps – but now it is mid-october! The chance of bad weather ruining your roof just shot through the r…excuse the near-pun there. Don’t let it some to that.
Alright, it is spring and I don’t want you to feel stressed about this already, but trust me: It really does pay off to start your roofing services projects early – not least, if you are doing them yourself. Happy roofing!
